Due to rapid growth of Internet in the past few years, IPv4 addresses are depleting,
the new IP addressing scheme called IPv6 has been around for many years but the
transition of internet to IPv6 still remains a herculean task due to size of the
internet and other complexities involved. Service providers around the world are
adopting tunneling mechanisms in order to efficiently transit to IPv6 and make it
co-exist with IPv4.

Xavient provides a wide range of services in the IPv6 arena from custom solution
development to open source development to network engineering over existing IPv4
networks. As a result of continuous research and development in IPv6, our teams
have achieved broad experience in IPv6 development and deployment services.
Xavient’s IPv6 offerings are:
- Protocol Development
- Tunneling Solutions – Ipv6 in Ipv4 and Ipv4 in Ipv6 tunneling solutions over most
platforms
- Native Ipv6 development – Ipv6 stack development over non common or proprietary
embedded platforms
- Application Porting and Development
- Dual stack porting of legacy Ipv4 applications
- Porting existing Ipv6 solutions/applications to diverse hardware platforms
- Network Engineering
- Design/re-design of enterprise networks
- IPv6 network deployment and support
- Testing Services
- Testing /QA of Ipv6 applications/devices

Xavient has played a pivotal role in development and engineering of the following
IPv6 tunneling solutions -
- DS-LITE
- SOFTWIRE – L2TP
- 6RD
- 6RD-UDP-Whitepaper
The platforms chosen for the above solutions were Openwrt and Mac platforms. |
Xavient has ported the open source xl2tp daemon to work in IPv4/ IPv6 mode. The solution consists of both client and server modes. L2TP is protocol of choice for service providers as it works on ppp and behind NAT.

Xavient developed an IPv4-IPv6 tunneling solution over the openwrt platform which
would enable our customer to have IPv4-IPv6 interoperability. The solution was plug_and_play
and used DS-lite (IPv4-in-IPv6) and Softwire (IPv6 in L2TP) mechanisms.
Xavient also ported the L2TP protocol to work over IPv6, which can be used as an
L2TP VPN over IPv6.
Xavient is porting the DS-lite solutions over the newer N-series routing platforms
over Openwrt & is also developing the same solution over Mac Os X. We are also
working on developing a newer IPv6 in IPv4 tunnel solution over openwrt which would
use 6rd prefix techniques and encapsulate IPv6 traffic in IPv4, this could be used
by MSOs worldwide to introduce IPv6 in IPv4 networks. This solution would also be
plug_and_play. |
